I believe this is the now-extinct Chickadoodle. History says that they used to be as numerous as the leaves on the trees, until the people of the time grew tired of them and their annoying song and hunted them to extinction in great parades called "Doodle Hunts".

We could make a stop-motion out of just that premise. Naturally all the hunters would have english accents and strange facial hair.
